My Family Tradition

I talk about my family's tradition this time. My grandfather and grandmother
were born in Kagoshima Prefecture, and grew up there. My father grew up in
Osaka. My mother was born in Okinawa and grew up there. I was born in
Tokyo and grew up in Hyogo. My younger sister was born in Hyogo and grew
up there. The place where my family grew up is different. In my local Hyogo
Prefecture, the person who speaks about Kansai dialect is almost the case.
However, in my house, the standard language is used all the time. I have also
been using the standard language at home. I use Kansai dialect, when talking
with my friend outside. However, a friend feels sense of incongruity for the
Kansai dialect about which I speak. My family has a custom also not only
about language but about food. If I have a stomachache, my grandmother will
give me juice. The juice is made of a beefsteak plant. It is a taste in which it
is difficult for me to express. I do not like it. If I have a stomachache, my
father makes me eat a pickled plum. A pickled plum is very sour. I dislike it.
If summer comes, my mother will often make the dish using a balsam pear.
Balsam pears are foods often eaten in Okinawa. I do not like this either.
If winter comes, an oyster will be eaten with a family. We boil an oyster in a
pan and eat it. We fry an oyster in oil and eat it. I pour tartar sauce on it.
I love it. It is a custom for my grandfather to drink cola before a meal and to
drink tea after a meal. My grandfather watches the period drama on
television without fail every day. My family does not keep a cat. My family
does not dislike the cat. However, my family has a reason for not wanting to
keep a cat. It is because the person of the next house keeps many cats. The
neighbor is pasturing the cat. The cat of the next house damages the yard of
my house. Furthermore, the cat of the next house scratches my car and
motorbike of a house by a nail. Since the cat of the next house cries at night,
it is noisy. Therefore, my family feels hesitation for keeping a cat. My
grandfather often watches television. However, my family seldom watches
television except my grandfather. Instead, my parents are often watching at
the South Korean drama. I was also sometimes watching at the South Korean
drama. Parents borrow DVD from a store well and are watching at the drama.
My family actually goes to South Korea to travel often. I have also been to
South Korea several times. My family goes not only to South Korea but to
other countries well. Japan is an island country. Therefore, it is not easy to
go to a foreign country. However, I would like to go to a foreign country
more. I could know the tradition of a foreign home in foreign countries. And I
will be surprised by difference in tradition.
