My hometown!!

Hello!! Today, I'd like to tell you about my hometown. I grew up in a small hick town, Yoshika, Shimane Prefecture.  Yoshika is full of nature and is surrounded by mountains.

The good thing about my hometown is clean water. The town has a "Takatsu river" which is said to the best water quality in Japan. This is Takatsu river!

In summer, fireworks display is held annually in Takatsu river. It is beautiful view! And It is also famous for Ayu (sweetfish)

Especially I'd like to introduce Iwami Kagura! Do you know Kagura? In the Iwami area of Shimane, there is a traditional local performing art called Iwami Kagura. Kagura is special music and dancing for the gods, and the kagura you can see in Iwami is very dynamic. There are more than 30 stories performed in Iwami Kagura and most of them are based on Japanese stories of the gods. Iwami Kagura are very interesting. In the fall, in many parts of Iwami, Iwami Kagura is performed all night long. Iwami Kagura has a very rich history. It is the pride of the people in Iwami. If you are ever in Iwami, you really should try to see this local treasure!

This is my hometown! Thank you for reading!!

  1. Hi Megumi,
Yoshika looks and sounds very beautiful! I have heard of Kagura, but I have not yet seen it myself. I'd like to see it someday. The Takatsu River looks absolutely beautiful! The water must be great! If I'm ever there, I'll be sure to go to the river!

    1. Hi Thank you for your comment!
Kagura is worth watching! It performed with little dialogue but they performed a fast and furious dance. Takatsu River is really beautiful! Fish caught in the Takatsu River is delicious because water is clean. If you have the chance, please come here someday!

Really? Is my hometown similar to Hawaii? I've never been to Hawaii before but I wanted to go to Hawaii to hear it. Kagura is interesting! If you have the chance, please watch it!
