Hello:D
In this post, I would like to introduce you about my favorite Japanese food!!
Rice ball is my favorite Japanese food. Do you know Rice ball?!
Rice ball made of rice, ingredients and nori seaweed. I love Rice ball. Then I will tell you why I want to recommend you Rice ball.
First, you can choice some ingredients!! For example, salmon, umeboshi, tuna mayonnaise, cod roe egg, shrimp tempura and so on. Especially I love salmon. Finally you roll seaweed on it.
Second, its shape is different. Usually, its shape is triangle. Sometimes we make it like straw bag or round. But triangle shape is little difficult.
Third, this summer I made it in U.S. When I stayed home stay, I made it with host children. I told them how to make Rice ball. It was a first time to make Rice ball for them. They looked like very interesting. Then, rice ball was favorite Japanese food for them. So it was best memory in summer.
In Japan, all of convenience store sell Rice ball. Students bring it to lunch. Rice ball is food that everyone like. Everyone can make it. And making Rice ball is really fun!!!
This picture is my host children who making Rice ball:D
Hi Kaho. I enjoyed reading your blog. I love rice balls too! I tried them when I went to Japan, and they were delicious. Are rice balls easy to make? I would like to try to make them sometime.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading Kea:D
DeleteReally~!? It was great experience.
I think Rice balls are easy to make.
But be careful!! Rice balls is Japanese rice.
If you make them like Thai rice, you can't make them because Japanese rice is more stikky.
It may be interesting for you to make them:)
Hi Kaho-san! You're host's family's children look so cute making rice balls! >o< Whenever I try to make rice balls here in Seattle I use a mold (that is in the shape of a triangle) which I got here at our local Daiso. Quick question--> Once the rice balls are made do we eat them cold or do we eat them warm (after warming them up in the microwave)? Or is it up to the person who is eating the rice balls? I guess right now my favorite food would consist of the local sandwich shops' sandwiches. LOL >-< They are close by, "healthy", and cheap(ish). What else to Japanese college students enjoy for lunch besides rice balls?
ReplyDeleteThank you for comment, Guadalupe:)
DeleteIn Japan, people eat Rice ball cold and warm.
When we can't warming them up, for example in school(Bento:Japanese school lunch) or at work, people eat as it is. Rice ball is a food that we can eat them both cold and warm. It's up to you.
I like sandwiches too!! When i stayed in U.S. I sometimes eat them.
Japanese college students like curry, katsudon, cup noodle and ramen. We can eat them in cafeteria in my college.
