My Family Tradition!

In Japan, New Year is the most important holiday and we spend the New Year with family. So, in other words, New Year is special family time!! Now, I'd like to tell you about how to spend my New Year.

In the New Year's Holiday,  families and relatives gather to celebrate the New Year at grandfather's house and we usually eat crab pot and Osechi. (special dishes prepared for the New Year) If you don't know it, please check this page.

my favorite Osechi dish is ''Datemaki''(sweet rolled omelette)
After that, we play card game(UNO) for hours and hours. This is my family tradition! Because it's very fun, I look forward to New Year!

  1. Megumi-san, my family does not have a typical New Years tradition, but somehow every year we are at a New Years party. Hmmm... Perhaps my family's New Year tradition is going or hosting a party! I just realized that. o_o The parties we go to or hold are cocktail formal dress parties at either our home, a hotel ballroom or an entertainment venue such as a symphony hall. I wonder what we are going to do this year. Do you have other family traditions? What are they?
